College Camp "SHIFTING GEARS" - Jzone

WORTH IT. It was a 4-day 3-night camp, and I'll say that it's not enough. At first I thought that it was going to be long, and that I was going to miss my home, but I was so wrong. Bitin!

Pictures here. (It's entitled "shifting gears")

FIRST DAY - Apr. 6, 2006

Assembly place is at CCF, and assembly time was supposedly 6am. Well, we left CCF at around 8am already. We rode Bus # 3, and while we were traveling, there was this guy who was listening to our conversation. He even laughed when we were talking about *something*, as if he can relate. He's freaky. Anyway, when we arrived at Caliraya, I fell in love with it. The place was so peaceful, serene, lush, spiritual, and just so magical. When I saw SLIP and SLIDE, oh joy! Couldn't wait to get all muddy and...soapy. Anyway, I was under ate Nina's Dgroup together with Ate Dyan, Pristine, Jeli, Avy, Bea, and Tapar. Bea and I were partners! Anyway, they were all Ateneans, and I was the only UP student, but it was perfectly ok. They were calling me "Babyface" because I don't look like a 17-year-old girl. Bea and Tapar was just 16, and they look older than I am. I may look young, but I tell you, looks are indeed deceiving. Anyway, I had a crush on *someone*. Camp crush! Haha!

SECOND DAY - Apr . 7 , 2006

I woke up late; I didn't get to join them in Dawn Watch. Sad. So I said that I am going to join them tomorrow morning na lang. The usual day started. Breakfast, session, breakout, lunch, then the most awaited time of the day: FREE TIME. Free time started at 1pm and ended at 6pm. That was indeed a long free time. We first rested, then we played EARTH BALL. It's like playing volleyball but it's harder. You get to play with a ball three times as big as you are. You can't carry it all by yourself unless you are tall and muscular. Ok we lost. So after the exhausting game, it was time for us to have a clean fun. SLIP AND SLIDE was up next. We first changed into our clothes which can get muddy, then off we went to the mud slide. We first went solo, so when my turn was up, I was so excited! I slipped and slide and got muddy all over my legs and butt. It was fun! Then we slided altogether and ended up with the same results. Ate Dyan, the most vigorous among all of us, started to slide backwards! She did that again-with us! Same feeling, same results. So when we were rinsing ourselves with the hose, I slipped and fell hard on my butt. It was ok, but when I saw *ehem* looking at me, I felt embarassed! Haha! After that, we went swimming! Then, the free time was up.

THIRD DAY - Apr. 8, 2006

My back was in pain, and I can hardly move, so again, I wasn't able to attend Dawn Watch. So I told myself that tomorrow, I will really go. Usual day: breakfast, session, breakout, lunch, then Free Time again. We just slipped and slide, because we started our free time resting. Anyway, that night was fun too because we got to buy from the snack store till 12am. So what we did was we stayed up until 2am! Some campers were playing MAFIA at around 1am. We didn't join because we didn't know how to play it. At around 1:30am, we were all sent back to our rooms because we need to take our sleep, and it was already late.

FOURTH DAY - Apr. 9, 2006

Baptism. I am going to be baptised, so I had to wake up early. Unfortunately for me, Dawn Watch was cancelled because of Baptism. It was ok, though. Baptism was fun. It was surprisingly different because it's not the typical baptism that is solemn and quiet. It was fun! Haha! We were laughing, singing, and socializing. But the spirituality was maintained. "You have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back." That was the song that we were singing after a person being baptised says "Yes" to the questions. It's a life-long commitment, Anyway, after the baptism, we had a session, and after that, we were asked to pack our things up already because sadly, we had to leave. But sadness no more! Ate Nina introduced him to me (finally)! Thank you so much Ate Nina! And we even rode the same bus! So when we arrived at CCF, we were like, "Andito na tayo? Ang bilis! Ayoko pa umuwi! BITIIIN!". There.

About the sessions...

The sessions hit not only me, but all of us who listened, really hard! I just find myself saying, "Ay, oo nga noh." and "Oops, ako 'yun ah." Nakakatama lang talaga. One important thing I learned is reading the Bible. Seriously, everything is indeed IN it. I began reading it just yesterday, and I feel really blessed by the verses. I also learned how to do my quiet time which only takes up 1% (that's 15 minutes) of my day. I encourage you, yes you, whoever you are, to join in one of the camps. It's expensive, I'm telling you, but it's all the worth. All that you'll get from the camp is priceless, and can never be exchanged for anything--even with your life. It will surely change your life, because it's starting to change mine. I'm a living testimony! Haha! May God be really praised with this.
